Summer beach waves

Is your summer hair repertoire a messy bun or pony? Once the weather hits the high double digits or even triple digits, creating an elaborate hairstyle is the last thing at the top of your mind.
While you can always count on a bun or pony, why not try an easy style that will complement your beach look or your cute summer dress with strappy sandals? Breezy, laid-back looking waves are a timeless style that ties your summer look together.
Whether created sans heat with wrapping your hair around a scarf or sleeping or created with minimal heat from the swipe of a curling iron, the nonchalant style doesn’t require a whole lot of work.

Here are some of our favorite summer wave looks along with a few tips on styling...

How to achieve beach waves with a curling iron:

You may think of using hairspray as the last step in the styling process, but a key to getting your beach waves (or any type of curl) to last all day is to spray your hair before styling. It serves as a primer. Simply give your hair a light mist from roots to ends.
Then, curl small sections of hair away from your face. Pro-tip: Leave the ends of your hair out while curling.
Once your hair has completely cooled, add another light mist of hairspray. Then, brush through your curls to create the effect of loose waves.

How to achieve beach waves with braids:

Beach waves are super easy to achieve with braids! Simply wash your hair at night, coat your wet hair in styling creme, and section your hair in half. Create two braids and let your hair dry overnight. When you wake up, remove your hair ties and you'll have the most effortless looking waves.

Happy summer!
