5 ways to add volume to your hair

We’re sure you’ve had days where your hair just doesn’t want to behave - it just wants to be flat and lifeless. If this is you some days, it might be time to try out some new volumizing methods to wake up your lackluster mane!
Whether you deal with greasy roots, want to extend your blowout, or feel like your hair is flat, these simple tips will help you reach your hair goals with no damage.

Use a dry shampoo on clean hair

Dry shampoo is usually thought of as a second day and beyond hair product. But it’s also really great to use on clean hair to give your hair an extra boost of volume and texture. If you’re prone to greasy roots, dry shampoo will keep your hair fluffy and full all day.
R+Co’s DEATH VALLEY Dry Shampoo absorbs extra oil and adds texture for an untamed look.

Switch up your part

When you change your part to the other side, you’re forcing your hair to go against its natural direction. The resistance will create extra volume - easy as that!

Blow dry your hair upside-down

Before you blow dry your hair, comb your hair. Then rough it up a little before you begin blow drying. While you dry your hair, flip your hair upside down and dry without the nozzle of your dryer until your hair is about 80% dry. Drying your hair this way forces your roots to dry upward, creating more volume. Once your hair is 80% dry, add the nozzle on to your dryer and style your hair.

Use a clarifying shampoo (and conditioner) once a week

After awhile, the use of hair products and masks, the hair can get bogged down with residue. It’s important to cleanse the hair of any buildup every once in awhile, and an added bonus of doing so will be having more volume. Clarifying shampoos will enliven your hair, and you’ll feel the bounce and elasticity back in your hair.
We love R+Co’s OBLIVION Clarifying Shampoo and OBLIVION Conditioner because they are effective and are safe to use every single day.

Bring on the hair spray

Hair spray can do so much more than just locking your style into place. We love to use hair spray as we style hair, for example, before curling a piece of hair, spray sections with hair spray and then curl. Hair spray is very buildable and you can brush your hair as you go, and it gives your hair a beautiful thick look while keeping your desired look in place all day long.
R+Co’s OUTER SPACE Hair Spray is the perfect one size fits all hair spray because it is flexible and can be easily brushed through and applied for all-day hold. It’s also the hair spray stylists use on set to easily change looks.
